My return from Australia to the UK included an unscheduled stop in Shanghai, Ryan Air seat leg room and a bag left in China. Oh and about 4 time delays that meant by the time I had landed at Heathrow (instead of Gatwick) I had to get the Heathrow express to run to catch the last train home from London Liverpool street to Norwich.
After a carefully written letter and email I received a check from Air China for the sum of £67 to cover the additional travel costs that I incurred. If you get shit service, always complain.
The months of July and August were completely filled up with me doing trips to my rental property in Derby where I undertook a huge amount of renovation including a new fitted kitchen, fire doors and painting a wall with bitumen.
I think I drove there a total of seven times in a Renault Laguna I purchased for £550 with tax and MOT, bargain. I then sold said Renault for £500 after ragging the shit out of it – I would call this ‘good value’.
All year I had planned to return to Australia for the start of September to get my farm work completed so I could obtain a second year visa and set up a company there in my second year. So two days before the flight I booked everything and left on the 9th of September.
